Work with Cheryl

Six ways to work together.

“Whether you’re navigating a personal transition, leading a team, or working with young people – there is a path back to yourself, and I’d would love to walk it with you.” – Cheryl Donaldson

01 — Clinical Care

Helping people build emotional resilience, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of self.

The way we experience ourselves is deeply shaped by the relationships and systems we grow within. Over time, many people lose connection to who they are beneath expectation, survival, performance, or past experiences.

Cheryl’s work focuses on helping people reconnect with themselves while understanding the patterns, relationships, and internal beliefs that may be keeping them stuck.

Her approach is warm and grounded, with a particular passion for supporting the self-esteem and emotional development of adolescents, individuals, couples, and parents navigating the complexities and uncertainties of modern life.

02 — Expat Support

A woman unpacking moving boxes — expat support and transition therapy

Arriving somewhere new shouldn't mean losing yourself.

Moving to a new country is exciting and disorienting in equal measure. You’re building a life in unfamiliar territory while grieving what you’ve left behind. I specialise in helping expats navigate this unique transition with compassion and intentionality.

Whether you’re struggling with cultural adjustment, identity questions, or the practical challenges of building community abroad, I bring understanding to the complexity of your experience. You don’t have to figure this out alone.

03 — Leadership Development

Helping leaders build healthier ways of leading, working, and relating.

Many high-performing professionals are skilled at managing the external demands of leadership and, in the process, lose touch with their internal needs.

Cheryl’s work focuses on helping leaders better understand what is happening internally, how their external world is affecting them, and how to develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and clarity so they can lead from a more grounded and sustainable place.

Drawing on thirty years of clinical practice and systems-based insight, Cheryl works with leaders and organisations to build healthier cultures, recognising that when leaders are more grounded internally, the companies around them become more stable in the pursuit of growth.

"The most effective leaders know how to lead themselves before they lead others."

04 — Lawyers

The legal profession asks a great deal from the people within it.

As the daughter, wife, and mother of lawyers, Cheryl has spent decades observing the legal profession from both a personal and clinical perspective. With family members at leading international firms including Winston & Strawn, Covington & Burling, and Mayer Brown, she has seen firsthand the pressure and emotional demands that shape life inside high-achieving legal environments.

It is a particular passion of Cheryl’s to help lawyers develop the emotional regulation practices, self-awareness, and internal resilience needed to sustain and grow within their careers, rather than succumb to the systemic issues that understandably affect so many: burnout, anxiety, substance misuse, perfectionism, emotional isolation, and the pressure to perform at all costs.

A keynote speaker at Duke Law School, Cheryl regularly speaks and consults on leadership, mental health, workplace culture, and the future of sustainable performance within the legal profession.

05 — Speaking

Ideas that move people.

I speak at conferences, corporate events, and educational forums on topics that sit at the intersection of psychology and leadership. My work is grounded in research, informed by lived experience, and shaped by decades of clinical practice.

06 — Workshops & Retreats

Shared experiences often help us see ourselves more clearly.

Workshops and retreats create the opportunity for people to step outside the pace of everyday life and engage more intentionally with themselves and one another. Whether within organisations, schools, leadership teams, or intimate retreat settings, group spaces often allow people to see themselves more clearly through shared experience and conversation.

Cheryl designs and facilitates experiences around leadership, emotional well-being, identity, relationships, psychological safety, life transitions, and self-leadership. Her work combines clinical insight, systems-based thinking, and relational depth to create spaces where people feel grounded enough to reflect honestly, connect meaningfully, and grow together.

It is Cheryl’s passion to strengthen how people connect, communicate, and engage within the systems that shape their lives: at home, at school, at work, and in their communities.
